Seven Members of the Media Killed in August 2016

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) documented the killing of seven media activists during August 2016, all of whom were killed in Aleppo by Syrian regime forces. SHRC also documented the injury of three media activists, two of whom were in Aleppo and one in Idlib.

Two Media Activists Killed in Aleppo

Two media activists were killed whilst covering clashes which were taking place between batallions of the armed opposition and regime forces in al-Mallah, rural Aleppo. The two activists are Abdul Khaliq Abu al-Yaman and Aqeel Abdul Aziz.

Media Activist Killed and Two Injured in Aleppo

A media activist was killed and two others injured in Aleppo during intense bombing which targeted the city on Sunday. The bombing killed media activist and camera man for “Live Images” channel, Usama al-Jumuah, whilst injuring media activists Bahaa’ al-Halabi and Yasir Sabbagh.

Media Activists Injured whilst Carrying out Duties

Two media activists were injured in Aleppo yesterday as they as they covered clashes taking place in the city between regime and foreign forces on one side, and armed opposition forces on the other. Both Abdul Kareem Layla (Abu Firas al-Halabi) and Saalih Layla were injured in Jabhat Jam’iah al-Zahraa in Aleppo.
