Escalation in Jabal Al-Zawiya continued and more victims
The Syrian regime forces, backed by Russian warplanes, continued their bombardment on the towns of Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern countryside of Idlib. As a result, the bombing of the towns of Al-Mastouma, Ahsem and Al-Bara (today, Tuesday 22 June) resulted in 10 victims, including women and children, in addition to dozens of wounded, according to the Civil Defense sources (White Helmets).
Violation of the ceasefire agreement signed between Erdogan and Putin in March 2020 warns of a new wave of displacement towards the camps of northern Syria, which will exacerbate the tragedy the region is already experiencing.
The sources stated that Russia and the Syrian regime are deliberately escalating before the re-vote in July in the UN Security Council on the mechanism for bringing humanitarian aid into the areas of northern Syria to achieve gains in the interest of the regime and to control aid.
