UN World Health Organisation
Since the beginning of this year, the United Nations and its organisations have made two major decisions against the tested Syrian people
The first was when the UN announced on February 18th of its intention to elect the regime’s newly appointed ambassador, Bassam Sabbagh, as a member of the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonisation for the year 2021. The election will take place in the month of June.
This is despite the fact that Bashar al-Assad’s regime summoned many forces to occupy Syria and fight the Syrian people, such as the Russian and Iranian occupation, and the recruitment of sectarian militias from Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and their perpetration of the most heinous violations such as killing, displacement, rape, arrest and destruction, the UN insists on representing this criminal regime as its rule in the field of human rights This is an insult to millions of victims of the regime in Syria and shows the UN as a partner and defender of this criminal regime against the Syrian people.
The second is the election of the Syrian regime last Friday (28/5/2021) as a member of the Executive Committee of the UN World Health Organisation, a regime that targeted and destroyed hundreds of hospitals, killed thousands of health, rescue and ambulance workers, criminalised civil defence and committed bloody massacres, and gased Syrian civilians by chemical weapons which was proven scores of times by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Half of the Syrian people were displaced, causing them to suffer disabilities and diseases, and the re-spread of previously extinct epidemics in Syria. This procedure is contrary to the most basic human rights norms and to all principles of the United Nations.
The Syrian Human Rights Committee stands firmly against these two measures and firmly requests the United Nations and its organisations to condemn the actions of the Syrian regime and to immediately stop these wrong steps by all United Nations and humanitarian standards and to take serious punitive measures and boycott it instead of rewarding it.
