The Syrian Human Rights Committee documented the killing of (1750) people in Syria during the year 2020, compared to 3522 people in 2019.
Idlib governorate topped the rest of the governorates in terms of the number of victims, which reached (477) people, followed by Aleppo governorate with (414) people, and then Deir ez-Zor governorate with (311) people.
The first three months witnessed about 45% of the killings in 2020, and this is due to the military campaign that targeted Idlib governorate and Hama countryside, which stopped with the entry into force of the ceasefire on the 6th of March.
Throughout the year, SHRC documented the killing of (348) people as a result of the assassinations, whose perpetrators are unidentified, (269) people due to improvised explosive devices, and (135) people due to the explosion of landmines.
