The Al-Raqqa province suffered from the terror of the regime army, then from ISIS, and now from SDF, BYD, and others.
Last Wednesday 8th July, a mass grave was discovered in the Tel Zidan area in the town of Jamarat in the northern countryside of the city of al-Raqqa, which including 221 corpses of youths aged between 20-30 years who were shot dead in the head, according to medical sources.
The number of the disappeared in the years that ISIS controlled the province is estimated at six thousand civilians from the province and from the regime’s army, who believe that ISIS executed them by firing squad and burying them in mass graves.
After SDF’s takeover of the area, dozens of the people of the area also disappeared on charges of collaborating with ISIS or opposing the new Kurdish control of the area.
Mass graves and the recovery of bodies are still being discovered by the SDF response team that currently controls the area with support from US military units located in northeastern Syria.
