Call on the European Union Human Rights Court to investigate the Greek violence towards the asylum seekers

12-March-2020 By shrc_admin

some practices of Greek authorities with Syrian Asylum seekers on the Turkish borders

The Syrian Human Rights Committee called on the European Union Human Rights Court to open an investigation into the Greek authorities’ violence and illegal practices against asylum seekers on its borders with Turkey.

The SHRC media spokesman added that the Greek authorities used practices that are inconsistent with the most basic human rights norms and have not committed to the basic rights in dealing with them.

The spokesman added that the asylum seekers did not want to stay in Greece but rather use its land to cross into European and other countries, but the Greek border guards and military forces used to repel them with tear gas, rubber bullets and live bullets at times and try to drown their rubber boats at sea and beat them severely and force them to return from Where they came from.

The spokesman concluded by saying: “Since the Greek authorities will do nothing to assess their actions on the borders, we extend this call to the European Union Human Rights Court to investigate and issue its instructions in this regard.”

We call on the European Union and all countries of the free world to assume their responsibilities towards the Syrian people who are suffering from the continuous bombing, killing, arrest and displacement by the regime of Bashar al-Assad and its Russian and Iranian backers, and to allow those who wanted them to seek asylum to live in safety until the elimination of injustice, tyranny and corruption in Syria.
