The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) documented the perpetration of 15 massacres in January 2020.
Idlib Governorate came at the forefront of the Syrian governorates with the number of massacres, as it witnessed the perpetration of 10 massacres. Since the beginning of December, Idlib has been subjected to a military campaign by the regime forces, supported by Russian air forces, and the campaign continues by the end of January. The attacking forces began a ground campaign on January 24.
Three massacres were also documented in Aleppo governorate, and one massacre in each of the governorates of Deir ez-Zor and al-Raqqa.
The regime forces were responsible for committing eight massacres, while Russian warplanes were responsible for committing five massacres, and the perpetrators of two massacres were not known.
