Russian warplanes caused a massacre in Jobas, Idlib countryside
Russian warplanes targeted a gathering of displaced people in the town of Jobas in the south of Saraqib in Idlib countryside, killing 8 people, including 5 children.
The attack targeted a group of tents set up by displaced people near a school in the town of Jobas. The targeting came about an hour after the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced a temporary ceasefire aimed at evacuating the remaining residents in the city of Ma’arat al-Nu’man.
South and southeast Idlib have been witnessing a wave of displacement since the beginning of last November. The response coordinators’ team estimated that 214,000 people were displaced during this period, making this the largest wave in 2019.
The Syrian Human Rights Committee condemns the Russian forces scorched earth operations in the cities, towns and villages of north Syrian and holds them responsible for their horrific massacres, and denounces the shameful international silence of what is going on with killing, destruction, and displacement, and calls on the international community to put an immediate mechanisms to stop the aggression against life and people and to punish those perpetrators.
