Syria ranked last in the world peace index, counting it the least safe country in the world among 163 countries in 2018. The World Peace Index published annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace said that Syria has become the least safe country in the world, in term of the risk of living as it got 3.600 points. While Afghanistan ranked second, South Sudan third, Iraq fourth, Somalia fifth. Russia was ranked 10th in the world and the first on the European continent as the most dangerous country, followed by Ukraine in 12th place.
According to the index, 93 countries have become safer, while 68 others have become less secure
