On Friday 15/12/2017, a mine explosion at the Grand Teldo Mosque in Northern Rural Homs killed one civilian and injured six of the worshippers. Due to this, prayers in all mosques within the region were stopped in anticipation of worse to come.
Eyewitnesses mentioned that a mine had been planted in the pulpit to target the Friday sermon preacher and the greatest number of worshippers.
Whilst the security and legislative commission within the region is currently investigating the incident, those behind it have not yet been identified.
Targeting civilians and places of worship are serious crimes that contradict all international values and treaties and amount to crimes against humanity. We condemn those behind these crimes. They must bear the consequences of their actions.
