SHRC Documents 53 Massacres in September 2017

3-October-2017 By admin2

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) has documented the occurrence of 53 massacres in September 2017, the highest number of massacres in any month this year as of yet.

Deir Azzour witnessed 26 massacres- the highest number out of all Syrian provinces. This was followed by Ar-Raqqah in which 10 massacres took place, and then Idlib in which 8 massacres were documented. Three massacres took place in Hama, two in each of Aleppo and rural Damascus, and one massacre in both Al-Hassaka and in Homs.

Russia perpetrated 20 of the massacres, followed by the Syrian regime and its supporting foreign militias who were behind 15 of the massacres. The International Alliance committed 13 massacres and ISIS committed four. The perpetrators behind the remaining massacre remain unknown.
