The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) has documented the killing of 19528 people in 2016, 42.6% of whom were from Aleppo alone- the province which had the highest number of victims for each month in 2016- followed by Idlib with 14.2% and then rural Damascus, from which 12.5% of the victims hailed.
July 2016 saw the highest number of victims with 2120 people killed, whilst March had the least number of victims, (841 victims) due to a truce which lasted around 10 days.
The Syrian regime and its foreign supporters, especially Russia, were responsible for the killing of 85% of the victims, with Russian war planes alone responsible for 19.6% of those killed. ISIS were responsible for 8.6% of those killed, the international alliance responsible for 2.6%, and mortar rockets fired at cities were responsible for the death of 3.7%
