SHRC has documented the killing of 1328 people in Syria during May 2016.
The victims included 179 children, 144 women, and 37 that were killed under torture in Syrian regime and ISIS prisons. Ninety-two were killed by Russian bombing, whilst 176 were killed at the hands of ISIS in direct clashes with the group or executions due to various accusations, and 69 were killed in rockets fired by the armed opposition on districts which lie under regime control. Five were also killed by Kurdish militias, and six died due to the ongoing siege on towns of the Eastern Ghouta in rural Damascus and al-Wa’ar in the city of Homs.
Aleppo witnessed the highest number of deaths this month, with 467 people killed in the province. This was followed by Idlib and rural Damascus in which 185 were killed in both respectively.
The number of victims in Homs was 139, in Deir Azzour 103, in Daraa 74, and in Hama 49.
Forty-four were killed in Latakkia, 30 in Ar-Raqqah, two people in Tartous, 17 in Al-Hassaka and seven in the capital, Damascus.
