Hama Central Prison has witnessed a rebellion by the prisoners, in protest at the prison’s management for transferring some prisoners to Sednaya Prison, where- according to the prisoners- they will be executed.
According to some prisoners, a number of them have been detained, possibly including the prison director himself.
Eye witnesses in Hama have described seeing lines of military vehicles surrounding the prison on Monday evening (8.30pm Damascus time), which may reveal the regime’s intention to raid the prison.
According to a phonecall made with the prisoners on Monday evening, the prison management has refused to respond to the demands made by the prisoners, including the demand to repel the death sentences imposed on some of them as well as the demand to not transfer them to other prisons.
The prison had witnessed a similar rebellion on 14/8/2015 in protest at the torture practised by the prison.
