ISIS targeted the Aakdh camp for displaced people in northern rural Aleppo with mortar rockets on Thursday, killing a mother and her child, and burning several tents.
The targeting of the camp is part of ISIS’ strategy to empty the camp and force its residents to leave the area, in order to gain control over the town of Izaz.
The targeting of the camp has led to a wave of displacement from the camps in northern rural Aleppo, with over 4000 families estimated to have left the camps of al-Haramain, Aakdh, Shamarikh and Ahl al-Shaam on Friday, and moved o farm lands and uninhabited lands close to roads and thoroughfares.
