During the month of October, Syrian and Russian war planes targeted medical centres and their staff- including paramedics- across various Syrian cities in a systematic manner, and in a manner more aggressive than that of previous months.
SHRC documented the targeting of 15 hospitals and medical centres, five of which were in Aleppo, three in Idlib, two in rural Damascus, two in rural Hama, one in Latakkia, one in Deir Ezzour and one in Ar-Raqqah.
SHRC also documented the targeting of seven ambulances, all of which took place in the cities and villages of rural Damascus.
During October, three nurses and paramedics were killed, as well as an ambulance driver, whilst seven medical staff were injured.
Syrian war planes and their foreign allies also targeted rescue and humanitarian teams: the continuous bombing, in particular by war planes and helicopters, killed eight members of the civil defence during October, and injured 24 other members. An ambulance belonging to the civil defence was also targeted.
All these documented violations took place by Syrian regime war planes and their foreign allies. The majority of the crimes took were implemented by war planes and helicopters.
