The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) has documented the death of 1783 Syrians during the month of August 2015.
The targeting of popular markets with explosive barrels and vacuum missiles was the most prominent of causes in the death of civilians this month. Other causes included clashes with regime forces, executions by ISIS due to various accusations, international alliance bombing and bombing with mortar rockets by opposition groups.
SHRC documented the death of 240 children in August, as well as 158 women, and 59 people that died under torture in security branches and detention centres of the Syrian regime.
SHRC also documented the death of 189 people by ISIS- including both those killed in clashes as well as those executed- and 25 that died due to international alliance bombing. Twenty were killed by Kurdish militias, 52 were killed by mortar rockets launched by opposition groups on to districts controlled by the regime, and ten were killed due to the ongoing siege enforced by the regime on the Eastern Ghouta, as well as the siege enforced by ISIS on the Joura and Qusoor districts of Deir Ezzour. In addition, eight were killed by poisonous gas bombs.
Damascus and its suburbs ranked highest in terms of death with 666 victims, followed by Aleppo in which 337 were killed, and then Idlib in which 331 were killed.
The number of victims in Daraa were 131 civilians, in Deir Ezzour they were 97 and in Hama 96 were killed.
And in Homs 84 were killed, in Al-Hasaka 17 were killed, in Ar-Raqqah 15 were killed and in Latakkia three were killed.
