The death toll in Syria on Saturday 01/08/2015 reached 40 deaths including five children, two women and two killed under torture.
In the capital Damascus and its suburbs, six civilians were killed; two in clashes with government forces, one in shelling, one in mortar shelling in the capital, another shot by a regime sniper and one killed under torture in a government prison.
Ar-Raqqah witnessed the killings of ten civilians at the hands of the Kurdish civil defence forces, three civilians – two children and a young man with a mental illness – died as a result of extreme heat and dehydration, due to being placed at a school yard and not given any water, and seven were shot by civil forces while trying to force them out of the town of Sareen.
Furthermore, nine were killed in Idlib in clashes with government forces. In Aleppo, a further six civilians were killed; four in clashes with government forces, one in shelling on Deir Hafir and one shot by a regime sniper.
The killings of four civilians were documented in Deir Azzour; two while trying to infiltrate into Jordanian territory, one in an explosion by ISIS and a child died from starvation due to the siege imposed on al-Jurra neighbourhood, which is under government control.
The killings of four civilians were also documented in Hama, three in shelling and one in clashes with government forces. In addition, a civilian was killed under torture in a government prison in Daraa.
