An armed Syrian opposition battalion- Ahrar al-Shaam- has implemented a prisoner and deceased bodies swap with the Syrian regime, under the auspices of the Medical Organisation and the Syrian Red Crescent.

The operation, which took place in the Karraj Crossing in Aleppo, saw the swap of 16 bodies from the regime forces for 10 bodies from armed opposition groups.

Ahrar al-Shaam has organised similar swaps with regime forces previously. On 11/6/2015, a swap was organised in Bustaan al-Qasr in Aleppo in which 20 bodies were released by regime forces in exchange for 30 bodies from armed opposition groups. The bodies were swapped across the Karraj Crossing with the use of hawkers carts.

And on 3/6/2015, the group also organised a swap with regime forces across the same crossing, in which seven detainees and two bodies were released handed over to the Syrian regime, in exchange for three civilian detainees, among them a husband and wife.

The operation took place with the use of hawkers carts, as vehicles are not allowed in the Karraj Crossing.
