ISIS has published a video in which a 19 year old youth from Jerusalem, who said he was an Israeli spy, was executed. The video- which is approximately 10 minutes long- shows an armed man speaking in French, who introduces the youth as Mohammed Said Ismail Musallam. His Israeli passport is shown just before the clip shows a child of 12 years wearing military clothes firing at Musallam.
A spokesperson for the Israeli security service Shin Beth confirmed that the youth left on 24th October to Turkey, thereafter heading to Syria. He joined ISIS “on his own initiative and without his family’s knowledge”.
It is thought that there are over 1.4 million Israeli Arabs, making up around 20% of the population.

Although this is not the first time in which children are shown to be participating in acts of killing by ISIS, they have not been previously used in the organisation’s official videos. Previous videos showing children holding executed heads or taking part in killings have been shared by ISIS members separately. A number of ISIS fighters have also spread photos of their sons helping them in acts of killing, such as that of Khalid Sharoof, an Australian ISIS fighter of Lebanese origin, who shared a picture of his almost seven year old son holding the executed head of a Syrian opposition fighter.
A picture of a child holding the head of the General Judge of the “Syrian Hawks” group, Abu Abd al-Samee’, after ISIS’ raid of the village of Akhtareen on 14/8/2014 was also shared.
Other videos published by ISIS of acts of killing, executions and crucifixions in the areas they control also show children in the front rows, as well as children holding cameras and phones, filming the scenes.
