The total death toll in Syria on Sunday 18/1/2014 reached 41 deaths including six children, five women, three under torture and one due to the cold weather.
In the capital Damascus and its suburbs six were killed; three in shelling on the town of Bazina, two in an ambush by government forces and one in clashes with government forces.
Deir Azzour witnessed the killings of 12 civilians; 11 died as a result of direct warplane shelling on their homes in the city of Muhsin (rural Deir Azzour), among them were four women and three children and one died due to international alliance shelling on the town of al-Tiyana (rural Deir Azzour).
In Al-Hassaka ten civilians were killed; eight due to artillery shelling from Kawkab regiment on al-Salihiya neighbourhood, one was killed by Kurdish defence militia during a raid on the village of Atshan and another was shot by a sniper in al-Raqba.
Furthermore five civilians perished in Idlib; four in warplane shelling on the towns of al-Habit and Hazarin and a 70 year old man publically executed in Jisr al-Shaghur.
Additionally three civilians were killed in Aleppo; two in shelling and a woman due to the severe cold weather.
The killings of two civilians were documented in Homs; a child shot by a regime sniper and one under torture in Sednaya government prison. The killings of an additional two were documented under torture in Hama and one died from wounds sustained in previous shelling in Daraa.
