The number of victims in Syria during Eid al-Adha 2014 rose to a shocking 243 civilians, among them 22 children and 10 women.
Sixty-seven were killed due to bombing with explosive barrels by warplanes, mortar shells and shelling. In addition, 140 people were killed in clashes between opposition and regime forces, and nine were killed by regime snipers, whilst five died under torture in security branches and prisons.
Damascus and its suburbs witnessed the highest number of victims with 79 civilians killed, followed by Daraa in which 60 were killed, and then Idlib in which 44 were killed. Thirty-eight were killed in Aleppo, and 10 in Hama, whilst seven were killed in Homs, two in Ar-Raqqah, and one civilian was killed in Al-Hasaka as well as in Latakia and Deir Azzour.
