Kurdish Militia groups, which are affiliates of the Democratic Union Party, yesterday committed a massacre in the villages of al-Haajiba and Tal Hamees in al-Hasaka, in which at least 51 civilians were killed, most of them children and women.
The Democratic Union Party had declared campaigns against those whom it called “Mercenaries of the Islamic State”, and said that there was a possibility that civilians could be hit during the clashes. However, a press release issued today by the Party said that ISIS fighters had detained women and children, used them as human shields, and then executed them later.
The Kurdish Protection groups, also known as PYD, have been launching military campaigns targeting the village of Tal Hamees since 12/9/2014.
Details from Al-Hasaka have reported that all the victims were civilians who were not affiliated to any organisation, and that most were women and children. At least nine of the victims were summarily executed, whilst most of the other victims were killed when their homes were hit by RPG mortars.
Most victims were transported to the Dar al-Shifaa hospital in Al-Qamishli.
The targeted areas remain under siege from the PYD militias, stopping activists from recording what took place in detail, and from publishing the information they managed to record.
