The death toll in Syria on Tuesday 19/08/2014 reached 42 deaths including nine children, two women and nine killed under torture.
In the capital Damascus and its suburbs the total number of victims reached 19 deaths; including 11 killed in shelling on the town of Harista, Deir al-Assafeer and Arbeen including six children and two women, two were killed in clashes, a child was inflected with meningitis as a result of lack of medical supplies due to the siege imposed by government forces on Eastern Ghouta and five were killed under torture in government prisons.
In Aleppo six civilians were killed; four died as a result of bombing of explosive barrels on the city, one was killed in clashes with government forces and one was killed under torture in security prisons.
In Hama nine civilians were killed in clashes with government forces including a child killed as a result of clashes between opposition and government forces at the town of al-Qamhana (Rural Hama).
It has been documented the killing of two civilians under torture in government prisons, one in Homs and one in Al-Latakia. It has also been documented the killing of three in Deir Azzour; two in clashes near Deir Azzour airport and in al-Hawqiya neighbourhood, as well as a civilian killed under torture.
In Idlib one was killed in clashes in the city of al-Salima (Rural Hama), two were killed in Daraa; one shot by Jordanian forces while attempting to cross the border and he died of his wounds in a hospital in the Kingdom and the other died as a result of the shelling.
