The death toll in Syria on Sunday 17/08/2014 reached 46 deaths, including three children, two women and seven killed under torture.
In the capital Damascus and its suburbs six civilians were killed; three died as a result of shelling, one was killed under torture, another died as a result of mortar shelling from an unknown source, and a civilian was executed at the hands of ISIS after he was going to receive treatment in Turkey after being denied entry into Jordan.
In Aleppo four civilians were killed as a result of shelling on Ahtimlat, Mari’, al-Saliheen neighbourhoods and al-Lamji. Additionally six were killed in Idlib due to the fall of mortar shells on the city.
Furthermore in Homs five civilians were killed including a child shot by a regime sniper and four killed under torture in government security prisons. In Hama the total death toll reached six deaths; three were killed in clashes with government forces, two as a result of shelling, one was killed under torture and another was beheaded at the hands of ISIS in the city of al-Tabqa (Ar-Raqqah).
It has been documented the killing of four civilians in Daraa; a child and a woman as a result of shelling and two in clashes with government forces. In addition two killed under torture in Deir Azzour and twelve were killed in Ar-Raqqah due to air raids by warplanes on the province.
