The death toll on Sunday 16/03/2014 reached 67 deaths, including ten women and 18 children.
Damascus and its suburbs witnessed killings, including 15 killed in the bombing of explosive barrels on Raas al-Ma’rra (Rural Damascus), six killed in the targeting of a bus carrying them on the road to Rankous and three in al-Hajar al-Aswad (Damascus) that died as a result of dehydration and hunger due to the blockade by regime forces.
In Daraa eighteen were killed, including six civilians killed in shelling on Busra al-Sham (Rural Daraa).
Among the dead were three women from Rankous (Rural Damascus) killed in the targeting of a service bus carrying the displaced on Rankous road. A Palestinian woman in her seventies and man in his sixties, residents of Yarmouk camp in Damascus and a child from Arbin (Rural Damascus) died due to malnutrition and dehydration due to the siege imposed by regime forces. Additionally a man from Batbu (Aleppo) was found at the outskirts of the Batbu village on the main highway west of the town.
Six were shot by regime snipers; the first from Tir Ma’la (Homs)was shot by an unknown source and found in the Orontes River, two (including a child) from Daar al-Kabira (Homs), two from Aleppo shot by a Karaaj al-Hajz sniper in Aleppo and the sixth from Douma (Rural Damascus) killed in al-Wifdan camp (Rural Damascus).
As a result of bombing of explosive barrels by regime forces, a man, two women and two children from Raas al-Ma’rra (Rural Damascus) were killed as well as a man from Kafr Zeita (Rural Hama).
Three from Daraa were killed under torture as well as a fourth from al-Mazza (Damascus).
