One hundred and fifteen civilians were killed in Syria on Friday 31/1/14, among them 10 women and 21 children.
Aleppo and its outlying districts witnessed the death of 61 civilians, among them eight in al-Zaidiya and likewise in al-Ansari and Mari’, as well as six in Bustan al-Qasr and three from both al-Maqbalah and al-Kalasah.
Among those killed was a child and woman from the Yarmouk Camp that died due to lack of medicine and nutrition as a result of the ongoing blockade imposed by the regime, as well as a child from Maheen in Homs that died when a cluster bomb- left behind by the regime- exploded. A civilian from al-Wa’ar in Homs was killed by a regime sniper yesterday, and a civilian from Deir al-Firdaws in Hama was slaughtered by regime forces in the village of Bireen.
Due to the use of explosive barrel bombs which were dropped by the regime in the Qadi ‘Askar district in Aleppo, twelve were killed including four women and two children. A man from Daraya (rural Damascus) was also killed as a result of regime shelling on his village with the use of explosive barrels.
Three were killed under torture: the first a child from Gharb al-Mashtal in Hama who was detained six months ago, the second a defected soldier from al-Salmiah in Hama, and the third from al-Wa’ar, Homs.
Activists also confirmed the death of a retired General from al-Houla (Homs) as a result of the shelling on al-Wa’ar, as well as a defected lieutenant from al-Qalamon (Rural Damascus) that was killed in clashes with regime forces, and a defected soldier from al-Shari’ah in Hama that died in clashes in al-Hajar al-Aswad in Damascus.
