Ninety-three civilians were killed in Syria on Sunday 8/12/2013, among them ten women and 17 children.
The largest number killed was in Damascus and its suburbs, in which 40 were killed, among them 22 civilians from al-Nabak including five children that were executed by regime forces. This is in addition to seven civilians that were killed under torture by regime forces as well as two that were killed by sniper fire.
Sixteen were killed in Aleppo, among them three that died in shelling on the Tareeq Nairab highway and seven that fell in al-Uwaijah due to shelling by war planes.
Twelve from Homs were killed, including four that died in the shelling on al-Nabak.
And in Daraa, five were killed, including four that died due to shelling on al-Rasheeda and al-Hamidiah.
And among those killed was a mother that died after giving birth due to the lack of medical services as a result of the blockade imposed on Southern rural Damascus by the regime, in addition to two from Qaara that died after they were targeted by a thermal rocket on Tareeq Yabroud-Jarijir as they were travelling to meet their family in Irsaal, Lebanon. A child from Arbeen (rural Damascus) was also killed due to the lack of food and medicine as a result of the regime imposed blockade on the Eastern Ghouta, five children from al-Nabak were summarily executed by regime forces, a man in his thirties from Salahidin in Aleppo was killed during shelling on the university city in the university of Aleppo, and a man and woman from al-Safeera were executed at the hands of Shabiha thugs. In addition, a Palestinian from al-Asaali died under torture in regime prisons, and a second Palestinian died due to shelling by regime forces.
SHRC also documented the killing of a defected lieutenant from Mahja (Daraa) in an ambush by regime forces in the area, as well as a defected soldier from Maa’ri’ that was killed in clashes at the al-Kandi Hospital Front.
