Daily Report on Violations of Human Rights in Syria: 10/10/2013

One hundred and five civilians were killed in Syria on Thursday 10/10/2013, among them 23 women and 13 children.

The largest number of killings took place in Aleppo in which 37 were killed, among them 18 from the village of Al-Safeera (rural Aleppo) who died due to the heavy bombing which targeted the village. Seven from Manbaj were also killed, as well as two who were killed by sniper fire at the Karraj al-Hajz Crossing.

In Damascus, 24 were killed, among them 16 (among them 5 Iraqi’s) who fell due to the shelling which targeted Jarmana (rural Damascus).

In Homs, 16 were killed among them10 from al-Insha’aat who died due to shelling which targeted the area close to the Al-Firdaws Mosque, as well as four from al-Wa’ar who were also killed due to the bombing of the area.

In Daraa, 11 civilians fell, among them eight who were killed in an air raid which targeted Nawa, and two from al-Sanamein who died under torture in the 215 Branch in Damascus.

And in Hama, 11 bodies of women from the village of al-Shanabira were discovered. They had been arrested and taken from their homes, and then burnt alive. They were buried close to the checkpoint at the village of Barideej.

Among those who were killed were 10 women from al-Shanabira in Hama. They were arrested, burnt alive and then buried close to the checkpoint of Barideej. A doctor from al-Safeera in Aleppo also died due to the shelling on the area, as well as another from al-Safeera who could not be identified due to his corpse burning up as a result of the bombing and shelling on the city. A child from Douma (rural Damascus) also died due to lack of medical attention as a result of the ongoing siege imposed on the Eastern Ghouta area, and a woman from al-Moadamiya (rural Damascus) died due to injuries she sustained on 21-8-2013 in the chemical attacks and due to lack of appropriate medication for her injuries. A woman from Talbisa, Homs, was killed with her baby due to shelling on the city, and a defected soldier from al-Buwaida (rural Damascus) died in clashes.

Four were killed by sniper fire: the first – in his forties- from Aleppo, and the second, a man in his twenties, from al-Sukari in Aleppo who was killed at the Karraj al-Hajz Crossing. The third- from Sarghaya (rural Damascus) was shot at by a sniper at checkpoint yesterday, and the fourth, in his twenties, was from Dana in Idlib. He was killed in Aleppo by the sniper of the Idha’a neighbourhood.

Three were killed under torture: the first from Deir Atiyah in rural Damascus who died under torture after he was arrested, and the second and third were from al-Sanamein in Daraa- they died under tortire in Branch 215 in Damascus.

List of provinces according to numbers killed:

Aleppo: 37 including 4 women and 8 children
Rural Damascus: 24 including 3 women and a child
Homs: 16 including 4 women and a child
Daraa: 12 including 3 children and a woman
Hama: 11 women
Idlib: 4
Deir Azzour: 1 who died under torture

Total: 105 killed
