Seventy-four civilians were killed in Syria on Wednesday 9/10/2013, among them seven women and eighteen children.
The largest number of those killed fell in Aleppo, in which 27 were killed, among them six from the Mashad area (among them four children) who died due to shelling, and five (among them three women) due to shelling which took place on Hayaan, and three children from Tal Ni’am who died during shelling on their village.
As for Damascus, 24 were killed, among them eight prisoners from Housh Arab (rural Damascus) who were killed under torture whilst in prison, as well as five from the village of Al-Dhiyabiah who died in clashes.
In Homs, seven died including three who were killed when Al-Wa’ar was bombed as well as two who died during shelling on Talbisah.
And in Al-Quneitra, seven were killed, among them four who died in Dhiyabiah in Damascus in clashes with the Regime forces.
Among those who were killed was a child from Al-Hajar al-Aswad in rural Damascus, who died due to malnutrition as a result of the ongoing siege, as well as a child from Douma (rural Damascus) who also died due to lack of medicine due to the ongoing siege imposed by the Syrian regime on the East Ghouta area. A media activist from Hajira (rural Damascus) was also killed whilst he covered clashes and a child from Aqrab in Hama died at the Jarablis Crossing due to lack of medicine. A civilian from Ma’arat al-Noman (Idlib) died whilst resuscitating the injured during clashes at Wadi al-Dayf.
Fourteen were killed under torture: the first a civilian in his thirties from al-Marjah in Aleppo who died under torture in the Air Intelligence branch in Aleppo and the second – from Deir Atiah in rural Damascus- who died under torture in the prisons of the regime after he was arrested on 13-6-2013. His body has not been given to his family. The third victim, from al-Hameira, rural Damascus, died under torture in a regime prison after he was imprisoned for several months, and the fourth- in his thirties was from Jayrood (rural Damascus). The fifth victim was from Nimr, Daraa, and in his forties, and the sixth from Tadmur, Homs, also died under torture in a regime prison. This is in addition to eight others from Housh Arab in rural Damascus.
Four were killed by sniper fire: the first a child and the second a civilian from Aleppo and in his forties who was killed at the Karraj al-Hajz Crossing. The third was a defected soldier from Manbaj (rural Aleppo) who was shot by the sniper at Al-Waaha on 6/10/2013, and the fourth from Bosra al-Shaam, Daraa, was killed by the sniper at the al-Gharbi neighbourhood.
