Three Massacres on Sunday 16/12/12

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) documented a number of human rights violations which took place in Syria on Sunday 16/12/12, and which covered shelling in its variety (by plane, tanks, Mortar rockets and so on), as well as the use of live fire.
Number of those killed in each province:

 

Damascus and its suburbs: 65, among them 3 women and 4 children
Aleppo: 47, among them 13 children and 9 women
Hama: 32, among them 5 children and a woman
Daraa: 19, among them a woman and child
Deir Ezzor: 10
Idlib: 7, among them a child
Homs: 4, among them a child
Al-Quneitra: 2
Ar-Raqqah: 1
Total: 192 killed

 

Damascus:

 

Massacre in the Yarmouk Camp: The Yarmouk camp was subjected to intense shelling operations by the Syrian army, in addition to electricity black-outs and many families fleeing to the schools, mosques and nearby neighbourhoods. The Abdul Qadir al-Husseini Mosque was directly shelled, leading to the deaths of approximately 15 victims, among them women, men and children. The limbs of the dead were reported to be seen spread around the area. Among those whose names were documented from this attack:
1- The child Yara Abu Sha’eera (1.5 years)
2- Fatima Suweid (Um Saleh)
3- Muammar Nasir (Abu Mu’ayid)- the mu’athin of the Mosque (Palestinian)
4- Ahmed Basim Ibrahim al-Baash (Palestinian)
5- Nour Abdel Kareem Musa
6- Mayyada Abdul Rahman
7- Haitham Nabeel Kharteel (killed by sniper fire)
8- Hasan Sarhan (killed by sniper fire)

 

Al-Asali: Syrian regime war planes shelled the buildings in the area
East Ghouta: Civilian homes in the area were shelled.
Al-Qaboon: Mortar rockets were launched onto the area, leading to fires starting in some of the civilian homes
Al-Hajar al-Aswad: Mortar rockets were launched onto the area, as well as Sabeenah
Masraba: This area was also targeted by mortar rockets, although no casualties were reported.

 

Rural Damascus:

 

Darayya: Mortar rockets were launched onto civilian homes. The area was also subjected to shelling and helicopters flew over the area
Harasta and Arbeen: Both areas were subjected to tank bombardment and sniper fire from the Air Intelligence building in the area
Maleeha: Shelling by MiG planes, which led to casualties, the majority of which are critical. Activists said that most bombs which fell today were cluster bombs, especially those around the area of the Safa Hospital.

 

Homs:

 

The humanitarian situation in Homs and its suburbs has reached a critical level. All areas under siege face a bread crisis- which is required for basic survival- as well as a crisis in lack of heating, water and electricity.
Al-Rastan: the Syrian army bombarded the city, targeting the homes of civilians and leading to a large number of casualties, among them children.
Al-Qusair: More shelling, leading to deaths and casualties
East Buwaida: explosive barrels were used in shelling on the area and which targeted civilian areas and buildings
Al-Sa’an Village: Bombarded by tanks at the Kafr Abd al-Sharqi Checkpoint.

 

Deir Ezzor:

 

The province and its cities were subjected to intense shelling by the Assad forces, especially in the following areas: Al-Hamidiah, Al-Jabilah, Al-Amaal, Masakin al-Shuhadaa’, Al-Urfi, Ghassan Abood area and Al-Hawayqah.
