shrc

With reference to the press release issued by the Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) on 12/1/2009, an informed source has provided additional information about Mr. Yusuf Jabbouli. Yusuf Ahmad Jabbouli was arrested from his home in al-Bab City (Aleppo province) by the State security branch of Aleppo on 1/1/2009. The source also reported that Yusuf works as an Islamic Studies Teacher, and is the founder of “al-Mishkaat”  electronic mailing group. The accusations leveled against him are unknown.
Six days later, on 7/1/2009, he was returned to his family, dead. He was transported to his family in a secret manner, directly from the security branch to his family’s home without the knowledge of the higher authorities and without any medical reports that explained the cause of his death.
Those that were detained with him in the State Security branch in Aleppo include:
Mahmoud al-Shihabi s/o Waleed- pharmacist
Mahmoud al-Shihabi s/o Imad- Engineer
Nizar al-Shihabi s/o Ghalib- Shariah University Student
SHRC repeats its condemnation of this heinous crime, the killing of Mr Yusuf al-Jabbouli, and its requests of calling for an investigation into this crime and the punishment of those responsible, both commanders and executors. SHRC also calls for the fates of the four other detainees to be revealed, who were detained in an illegal manner, and requests that they be released immediately.
SHRC also repeats its condemnation of the Intelligence Apparatus’ use of practices which are both illegal and unconstitutional, and that only based on the laws of the state of emergency and the exceptional presidential decrees which protect the security and intelligence elements’ crimes against citizens.
