A media spokesman of SHRC said that the release of the Syrian correspondence from a Spanish jail fell short to meet the minimum of what the Spanish justice should do to rectify the wrong caused to Allouni and others implicated from his detention. The spokesman said: “ Spanish authorities should have released unconditionally journalist Tayseer Allouni. His release for medical reasons is but to save the face of the detaining authority. Blocking his freedom of movement outside Spain is no more than an attempt prevent him exercise his occupation in full capacity.”
The spokesman affirmed that Spanish authorities should have associated Allouni’s release with an apology to him and the Syrian community in Spain which have already been caused harm as a result to this wrong and partial practice of the Spanish public prosecutor.”
The spokesman concluded his statement by “stressing the necessity of rendering the consideration to Mr. Allouni and all those targeted by his arrest as a part of correcting the mistake committed by the Spanish justice. The current release leave the door open to all unpredictable options which may oblige Mr. Allouni and others to pay for policies and plans they have nothing to do with, under names and pretexts used at present on large scale by authorities that lost credibility”
