Syrian human rights sources have reported that a patrol from the military security apparatus in the Al-Raqqah Province arrested an employee (a teacher commissioned to the post of director of Schools Health Department) inside the Education Directorate Building in al-Raqqah. The arrest took place in front of the employees and clients.

The source also reported that the citizen, Akram Mustafa Alwani (Hama 1957), who has been previously summoned by the mentioned apparatus few days before his arrest on Thursday (28/5/2009), “is considered one of the old teachers, who has taught many of the sons of this province. He was distinguished for his impartiality and excellent manners, being efficient in his work and well reputed among those who know him.”
The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) calls upon the concerned Syrian Authorities to release Akram Mustafa Alwani and all other arbitrarily arrested detainees from the Syrian prisons and to put an end to the file of arbitrary arrests.
