The Syrian Intelligence authorities arrested Mr. Ali Shihabi on Thursday 10th August following his summon for interrogation at one of the security branches. His wife was denied visitation or knowing his whereabouts.

Mr. Shihabi (51 years), a resident of Damascus, is an ex-member of the opposition Communist Labour party.

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) which condemns all types of arbitrary and oppressive arrests, requests the immediate release of the said citizen. Has he committed any legal violation, then he should be forwarded to a civil court where the provisions of fair trial are guaranteed.
