The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) has learnt from a private and closely related source that Mr. Yusuf Jabbouli (Aleppo- 1974) was arrested by the intelligence apparatus on 27/12/2008. A week following his arrest, his corpse was handed back to his family. They were not allowed to open the coffin and were forbidden from inviting others to join them in praying for the deceased. Forces of the Syrian Intelligence watched the family until they finished the burial procedures in the city of al-Baab, province of Aleppo.
The citizen Yusuf Jabbouli is a Shariah graduate and worked as a government employee in the province of Aleppo. SHRC offers its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and strongly and unequivocally condemns the manner of killing practised by the intelligence and their lack of respect for human dignity and value of life. In addition, SHRC strongly condemns the use of torture that leads to death which is practised systematically by the Syrian Intelligence, and holds them responsible for the continuous death of citizens under brutal torture, and calls for an investigation into the death of Mr Yusuf Jabbouli and the punishment of those responsible, both executors and commanders.
