Urgent Call to Reveal the Fates of two Detainees and Release them
shrc

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) has learnt from a closely connected source that the citizen Mu’awiyah Ali Al-Dablan, from the village of Al-Taaminah in Hama was arrested from his home in the night of 16/7/2008. His friend Bashar Aziz, who was with him, was arrested too.

Mu’awiyah Al-Dablan (1981) is a policeman. Since the date of the arrest, nobody has known of the fates of both men, and the reasons behind their arrests are still unknown.

SHRC condemns all arbitrary and oppressive arrests in all their forms, and expressed its fear that the above mentioned citizens may be exposed to torture and ill treatment. SHRC calls for the immediate release of both citizens, and requests that if they are indeed found guilty of breaking the law then they should be trialled at a court where they can enjoy their full legal rights.
