Campaigning to expose human rights violations in Syria
SHRC

SHRC has just learned that in August 2001, Mr. Mohamad Naseer Abdel-Jawwad Abdel-Wahed, a Syrian citizen who has been residing in Jordan, was abducted upon crossing into Syrian territories across the Syrian-Jordanian border on his way to the Northern Syrian city of Aleppo, where he intended to reside indefinitely. No news regarding him have been made available to the outside world ever since his arrest.

While SHRC announces its denunciation of this random arrest, it calls upon Syrian authorities to release Mr. Abdel-Wahed immediately or explain the reason for his arrest and list the charges he faces -if any- and to elaborate about his whereabouts so that his family and siblings could visit him as soon as possible.

Background

Mr. Mohamad Nusseir Abdel-Jawwad Abdel-Wahed was born in Aleppo, Syria 1949, lived in Jordan for the last 20 years, where he worked. He returned in August 2001 to reside in Aleppo, but he was arrested at the border with Jordan. He is married and has five children.
