Ahmed Musa Al-Shukaifi Dies under Torture
shrc

An informed source in the province of Idlib has reported that the teacher Ahmed Musa Al-Shukaifi, who was arrested in September 2008, was handed back to his family a lifeless corpse only a week later, having died under the severe torture he was exposed to. Ahmed Musa Al-Shukaifi is from the town of Jarjanaaz of Ma’arat Al-Nu’man in Idlib. He has a university degree in Philosophy and Psychology, and until now, the reasons for his arrest are unknown.

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) offers its condolences to the family of the deceased, and strongly condemns the Syrian’s Authorities use of torture that leads to death, considering it the reason for the death of Ahmed Musa al-Shukaifi. SHRC requests that an immediate investigation to be launched into the reasons for Al-Shukaifi’s death, and calls for those responsible, both commanders and executors, to be punished. SHRC also calls for the deceased’s family to be compensated, for reassurance that such incidents will not be repeated, and an end to all arbitrary and oppressive arrests.
