SHRC
The supreme State Security Court issued on Sunday 8/10/2006 a death sentence against the Syrian citizen Ahmad Mustafa Ibrahim Assayed (from Aleppo – 43 years) pursuant to Article 49/1980, which condemns to death the membership or affiliation to the Muslim Brotherhood Movement. The sentence was then reduced to 12 years in prison with hard labour.
The Syrian Human Rights Committee unequivocally condemns this unfair sentence and requests the Syrian regime to repeal this unjust and oppressive law which condemns to death even the mere doubt of affiliation or relation to the Muslim Brotherhood Movement. SHRC also requests cancelling all sentences taken against individuals according to this law including Mr. Ahmad Assayed and to immediately release them all.
SHRC appeals to all national and international Human Rights groups to act towards the abolition of this unfair law and the release of all detainees in the Syrian regime prisons sentenced under this law.
