Another Urgent Call to reveal the Fate of Mohammed AbdulQadir Talib
SHRC

With reference to the call issued by the Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) on 29/5/2007 to reveal the fate of university student Mohammad AbdulQadir Talib, SHRC has learnt from a close and reliable source that he was detained in Sednaya Prison. His family was able to visit him in mid-June 2008, however following this visit his news were completely cut off. SHRC has learnt that Mohammad AbdulQadir was arrested due to his donation of 1000 Syrian Lira’s (approx $20) for the destitute of the Iraqi people. He was also subjected to extreme torture, pressure and inhumane torture in order to admit to false accusations.
SHRC expresses its deep concern on the fate of Mohammad AbdulQadir Talib, the fact that his news has been cut-off, and his prolonged detention, and calls upon the Syrian Authorities to reveal his fate and release him immediately after two years of arbitrary and unjustified imprisonment.
SHRC also renews its call to international human rights groups to call and act for the release of the student Mohammed AbdulQadir Talib and the hundreds of detainees like him.
