SHRC
The Syrian State Security of State arrested the citizen Mohammed Khalil Issa (born 1982) in Ain al-Arab (Kobani) in the province of Aleppo on 23/12/2006. Mohammed Khalil Issa is a philosophy graduate from the University of Aleppo. Upon his arrest he was transferred to the Aleppo branch, and then to a Security of State Branch in Damascus. His arrest took place after he published a book of poetry, however it is not known for what reason he was arrested, and nobody knows anything about him either.
On the other hand, the dentist Mawlood Ali Mahfoudh from the province of Hama was summoned to the Military Intelligence branch in Hama on 10/1/2007 where he was detained and did not return to his home. It is also important to note that Dr. Mawlood, from al-Salmiah, born in 1980 the son of an ex-detainee who has spent more than fifteen years in prison> Mawlood was recently called to the Security several times before being detained.
SHRC condemns the despotic and arbitrary arrests being practised widely by the Syrian Intelligence Apparatus for the silliest of reasons, and at times for no reason at all. SHRC requests for the immediate release of the above-mentioned detainees, and all prisoners of conscience and political prisoners, and to close the record of oppressive and arbitrary arrests.
