SHRC
Post-Midnight, on Saturday (11/11/2006), patrols of Air Forces Intelligence raided the houses of approximately 15 youths in Homs, suspected to be Tahrir Party members.
It is worth noting that most of those arrested are ex-detainees who were released two years ago after serving prison terms ranging between three to six years.
SHRC was able to identify the names of four citizens arrested last Saturday: 1- Gazwan al-Shawwa, Science graduate, works in IT 2- Jihad al-Kayyal, works in IT 3- Basheer Abu al-Laban, works in a grocery 4- Iyad al-Kaharaz
SHRC condemns these despotic and unjustified arrests, and requests the Syrian authorities to immediately release the arrested detainees, and to allow the freedom of expression and peaceful association.
SHRC would like also to express its shock at the mannerism of the military air force intelligence apparatus at raiding houses of peaceful civilians in the middle of the night and violating their constitutional rights to peace and freedom.
