Events and victims of 30/9/2012

The 30th of September was another bloody for Syria, in which the forces of Bashar al-Asad and his shabiha gangs committed massacres, shelling operations, demolishing of homes and the targeting of bakeries. The number of victims from amongst the civilians exceeded 154 civilians, amongst them 11 women and 9 children, and two died under torture. In Damascus  and its suburbs 21 were killed, in Aleppo and its suburbs 27 were killed, 11 in Deir Ezzor, 6 in Idlib, 4 in Homs, 2 in Daraa, and 1 in al-Hasaka.

In al-Asaali district in Damascus, 30 bodies were found discarded close to a water tank. According to the families, these bodies belonged to young men from the district that were arrested at the barriers and summarily executed, simply because they wanted to check up on their homes.

Bashar al-Asad’s forces also shelled the Watani hospital of Harasta, in Harasta, Rural Damascus, and then arrested all the injured civilians who were injured as a result of the shelling. The intense bombardment left at least 13 civilians dead.

In the Barzah district, 8 civilians were summarily executed. Their bodies were later found close to Tishreen Military Hospital in Harasta.

At least 10 civilians were also killed in Douma, Rural Damascus, whilst 10 others were killed in the city of Deir Suleiman in the Eastern Ghuta as a result of intense bombardment by the forces of Bashar al-Asad.

Tens of others were killed as a result of barbaric bombardment on the towns of Rural Damascus including al-Zabadani, Saqba, Kafr Batna, Arbeen, Asal al-Ward, Wohoosh al-Arab, Misraba, Mdeira and others.

In Deir Ezzor, at least 41 civilians were killed, amongst them 9 were killed when a building in the Hamdiyah District was targeted by MG planes. A family of 8 individuals was executed in al-Qusour District, and tens were killed due to the continuous shelling and acts of violence against civilians in the two cities of Deir Ezzor and Albukamal.

Tens were also killed in Aleppo as a result of the continuous shelling on the city which began three days ago.

Intense shelling continues to target the city of Homs and its suburbs for around four months. Today, the cities of Talkalakh, al-Quseir and al-Rastan were shelled.

The rural areas of Daraa were also subjected to barbaric bombardment, particularly in Busra al-Shaam, al-Qaria al-Gharbiya, Um al-Ma’athin, and al-Lajaat.

Ma’arat al-Noman, Sarmeen, Kafranbel and Taftanaz in rural Idlib were also subjected to arbitrary and intense bombardment.

Al-Raqqah and its suburbs, especially Ain Issa were also subjected to intense bombardment killing at least two civilians and injuring 15, and other villages of Lattakia were also subjected to shelling.
