The disappearance of a number of people following a protest in Homs on Friday
A trusted source has reported the disappearance of a number of civilians in the central city of Homs following a peaceful protest last Friday (25/3/2011). Some of the names are: Ramy Naqshu (pharmacist), Sheikh Tareq Almasry (who was beaten severely and was in a critical condition), Osama Sffour (chair of the Asala cultural organisation), Omar Al-Isa (engineer), Ghanem Da’doush, Abdul Hamid Ahmed Sufi (university student), Ragheed Al-Talha (academic), Mohammed Bashir Kinj Alhalaby, Khaled Shlar and Mahmoud Hoory Zada.
The SHRC demands the Syrian authorities to reveal the destinations of the mentioned detainees, and to release them immediately and to put an end to these arbitrary arrests which do not have any legal or judicial bases. It also calls for permitting citizens to practice their constitutional and legitimate rights of peacefully gathering, protesting and expressing their opinions.
