Riyadh Saif Released
SHRC

On Wednesday evening (28th July) the Syrian Authorities released the engineer Riyadh Saif, President of the Damascus Declaration following a period of two years and a half in prison.

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) media spokesman expressed his happiness at Riyadh Saif’s regaining of his freedom and his return to his family and country. He has also offered his sincere and heartfelt congratulations to his family and supporters.

On this occasion, the spokesman commented, “we call for the release of the writer Ali al-Abdullah whose term of imprisonment has been completed, yet the Syrian Authorities have kept him detained and directed another accusation at him due to the fact that he expressed his opinion on some general and current issues.”

The spokesman concluded by saying, “we call for the release of all political detainees and prisoners of conscience in Syrian prisons and detention centres, for an end to repressive arrests, and for general freedoms to be practised within Syria.”
