Corpses Discovered in many areas in Damascus and Suburbs
Activists of the Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) have reported the discovery of rotting and unknown corpses of civilians in Damascus and Rural Damascus, citing that it is clear that the corpses were killed in a rush by the Shabiha and Syrian regime forces. Eleven rotting corpses were handed to the Jayrood hospital by the Syrian security, claiming that they were civilians from the town of Yalda. The corpses were buried in the town’s cemetery on Sunday.
In addition, more unidentified corpses were handed to al-Qutaifa Hospital in order to be buried. Four more unknown corpses were also found on the Dar’a Main Road. It is assumed that these corpses are that of civilians from al-Qadam or Nahr Aisha neighbourhoods in Damascus who were arrested, summarily executed, and left in their place of execution. The corpses were sent to Darayya Hospital for burial.
And today, on 9/8/2012, four unknown corpses were found in the Nahr Aisha neighbourhood in Damascus close to the International Way High Road (Autostrad). Signs of torture were found on the bodies.
We, at the Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) feel a great danger from the widespread arbitrary and brutal killings being committed by the Syrian regime forces, and the discovery of unknown corpses everywhere. Killing is no longer based on who you are, but has become an arbitrary matter, and it is incumbent upon the International community and the United Nations to save the lives of civilians and to stop this killing machine from practising its favourite hobby.
