The Syrian Human Rights Committee’s official Spokesman has welcomed the release of the Islamic scholar Abdul-Rahman Kooki, and thanked all who made good efforts in this connection.

The spokesman also has appeal to the Syrian president Bashar al-Asad to made an initiative to issue a general amnesty to release all prisoners of conscience, opinion and the forced exiled particularly the elderly lawyer Haitham al-Maleh and lawyer Muhannad al-Hassani. SHRC spokesman told that no such amnesty has been declared since 2/11/2005
