Massacre in Al-Thayabeia and other areas of the Country

A most harrowing massacre was committed yesterday on 3/12/2012 in Al-Thayabeia, Rural Damascus in which over 38 civilians of the town were killed by the Syrian regime army and its Shabiha gangs. The civilians were arrested at “Mafraq al-Mu’tamarat” checkpoint and then summarily executed, the majority of them, if not all, being male. Clear signs of torture were visible on the bodies.

In other news, In Masraba (Rural Damascus), nine were killed including a child due to air bombardment on the town by Syrian regime forces. The names include:

1- Samer al-Khouli
2- Ziyad al-Khouli
3- Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Khouli
4- Ridwan al-Khouli
5- Zuheir al-Basha
6- Yasir al-Najjar
7- (Child) Bilal Abdul Naafi’

In Bustan al-Qasr in Aleppo, a massacre was perpetrated due to a series of indiscriminate air bombardments carried out by the Syrian regime. The number of those killed is yet to be revealed, scores have been injured.

SHRC once again strongly condemns the massacres perpetrated in Syria on a daily basis and calls upon the international community to take immediate action. SHRC has issued numerous reports and statements on the danger civilians are being subjected to, whether in their homes or at checkpoints. The silence of the world has been deafening and deplorable, amidst the numerous human rights violations taking place on a daily basis.

SHRC calls upon the world to take action and protect these innocent civilians immediately and without delay.
