SHRC
Urgent Call for the release of 20 Syrian Refugees kidnapped in Lebanon
The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) has condemned the kidnapping of twenty Syrian refugees in Lebanon, which took place as a backlash against the kidnapping of Hassan al-Miqdad, a Hizbollah soldier who was fighting alongside the Syrian regime.
We, at SHRC, hold the kidnapping and safety of these refugees the responsibility of the party that kidnapped them, and which is very well known. If this side hid behind the excuse of the kidnapped soldier, his family do not have the capability of kidnapping 20 refugees. We call upon them to immediately release these Syrian citizens, and to not send their fighters to Syria and respect the familial relationship between the two sister countries and not destroy them through provocative acts.
SHRC also calls upon the United Nations to immediately intervene to protect the Syrian refugees in Lebanon against the attacks of armed militia, threats, kidnappings, and from the ongoing act of handing them over to the Syrian regime.
